APC Homes Summer / Winter 2008 newsletter
Dear Visitor
Thank you for your interest in apc homes and welcome to our website.
I have been in the property business for more than 30 years and the last time the market disintegrated so badly as it has done this year was when the government withdrew the miras tax relief for married couples back in the late 1980s.
One of the main reasons for this market crash is of course because it is so difficult for first time buyers to get the mortgages they require and until that situation is resolved then things in my opinion will not get better.
I had never heard of the expression credit crunch until this year which I guess translated means banks selling each other bad debts, and mortgage lenders offering loans at unsustainable levels.
The summer of 2008 has not exactly been memorable and as we move into autumn who knows perhaps we may have an Indian summer and the country may not slip into recession, after all the government has scrapped stamp duty upto £175,000 and that is bound to help the situation………..isnt it?
Sorry if I sound a little sarcastic but it really amazes me that government and financial institutions do not seem to learn from the past.
Anyway I will get off my soap box and hope that when I write again in the new year things will start to look better and the country will be getting back on its feet. Lets hope so.
Kindest regards,
Andrew Niven
